ARTS AT THE VIC
ACNA
sponsors an annual Juried art exhibit at
Paul Smiths Visitor Interpretive Center interpreting the Adirondack
environment.

“19th Annual Artistic Interpretation of the Environment
Juried Art Show” at the Adirondack Park Visitor Interpretive Center.
The theme for this years’ exhibition is “MIST”.

The Arts Council for
the Northern Adirondacks is pleased to announce its 19th
Annual Juried Art Show: “Artistic Interpretations of The
Environment” at the Adirondack Park Visitor Interpretive Center
in Paul Smiths, NY. This years’ exhibit, entitled “Mist” will be
on display from November 15th, 2007 to February 11th, 2008. The
opening is scheduled for November 15th, 4pm–6pm at the VIC, with
the awards ceremony at 5 PM.
The Juror for this years show will be Bill Cosby; a Painter,
Photographer and Retired Professor from SUNY Plattsburgh. The
collaborative efforts of the Arts Council and the VIC Center began
seventeen years ago. Its purpose continues to be to provide an
exhibit for artistic interpretations of the Adirondack Environment.
Each year the jury selects a theme for the following year. Past
exhibits have presented such topics as “Winter Light”, “Adirondack
Forests”, “Mud Season”, “Weather Effects” “Rocks” “Guess Again;
Things are Not as They Appear to Be” and “Local Color”. Rocks”,
“Veritas in Verde” and “Flight” to mention a few.
There will be a cash award for Best of Show, and additional
awards for First Place Photography and Painting. These awards will
be presented at the Opening Reception on Thursday, November 15th,
from 4–6, Awards at 5 pm . All artwork must interpret the theme:
“Mist”; your imagination has no limits. All artists are eligible
with two-dimensional works in any medium that meets the size
requirement of not more than 30” wide, due to limited hanging space.
All work must be suitably framed and wired for hanging. Works on
paper must be under glass or plexiglass. Each artist may submit one
or two works. Artist should be aware that that the exhibit space
receives strong sunlight. The entry fee is $20.00 ($15.00 for
current ACNA members). A 30% commission will be retained if the work
is sold. Entries must be delivered to the VIC on November 4th
through the 6th, between 10am and 3pm. Artwork may be dropped off at
ACNA’S Westport office by Nov. 6th, instead of shipping or traveling
to Paul Smith’s VIC. Please CALL FIRST!
If selected , all work will remain in the exhibit until February 11th
